a little tip mrmark, when building your block work say in garages that is seen,we use a 3/4 block to start with.with that you get your half bond, cuts the 100mm cut out an looks a lot neater on the eye.the one youve done is fine on house where it gets plastered.ask you tutor abt it.

We had to do that for the wall version...........200mm cut for the closure (half the block)

Does it seem than when laying blocks the joints seem thicker?

yes they do allways look bigger joints.what i mean is look on your light block wall, start with a 320 mm block on your corner instead of a full block, cuts the 1/4 cut out an looks better if seen

I am proud to say my academic year has finished, I am now a Level 1 bricklayer within the city and guilds. I shall be returning in September for Level 2.

this behind us is my last job, and it is usually a level 2 job. To the left is one of the bosses, the middle is me, and to the right is my tutor Scott.

Well done. Robots and computers, numerically controlled machines etc.. will never be able to lay bricks & breeze blocks, that's for sure.. Very Happy People will always need houses & buildings to dwell in, that's for sure! The recession will end, as it did in 1992 & 1979.. Wink A good brickie will always find work, as will a good Chef, dentist etc...
