Re: flyfishing for pike
welcome to the site Amiaud
there are a few flyers on site, they keep very quiet, not much posted of late.
i have been flying for pike since the 1980's.
contacted other like minded pikers in the past via snail-mail(post),
including Reynalds,Berryman,Hanna and several in ussr, all were very helpful.
but most of my flying has been trial and error over many years.
some say i know what i'm doing, i'm not sure
if we can get some chat going on this thread we may lure(sorry for pun)some of them out into open.

its all about timing and technique Patch.
a couple of hours with a compident fly caster should sort out any problems with casting.
iv'e taught a dozen pikers to fly fish(differing success), but all are now happy to go it alone, some with excellent results. but as in all aspects there are limitations to when, where and how.

Re: flyfishing for pike
any time layed off is not good Stubbo, but you put what you had to good(fishing) use.
i've been made redundant twice in my work time, 15 years apart, not good for sole.
if you are lucky or persitant it's possable to come through it as strong as you were before.
hope among hope that none of lads on this site ever have to bear witness to such a blow.

Re: flyfishing for pike
Well, as some of you lads know, I got made redundant just before Christmas 2008. I haven't worked since.
I am now a fulltime 'househusnband' that does all the housework as well as looking after our 2 year old and taking our daughter to and from school. I do the pot washing, laundry, cooking, housework, shopping etc...
This was following a long hard decision to do it as my missus had managed to get a job before I did. We get help with the rent and the council tax, but have very little luxuries and cannot afford to run a car.
When the little 'un is at school then I will get another job (hopefully) but in the meantime we will just keep soldiering along. It's been tough but as Jeff says, if you are strong it's possible to pull through it.

Too true Jeff.
Mind you, it's great spending so much time with the young 'un. His 16 year old brother never got as much time with me as I worked 6 days a week when he was growing up. Mind you, he got spoiled rotten whenever we spent "Father and Son time" together
Both my sons have a very strong bond with me and Mum has to make do with me having all the attention most of the time from the little 'un. It's me who he is with all day long and we make breakfast together as well as lunch and tea. He is the one who has to put the rug back down after vacuuming the front room! "Me do my job Dad" he'll say. We do school run together and he is the one who gets his coat, shoes and hat on. He won't let Mum take him to bed unless I'm not in.
Precious times spent together and I think it's this that makes life sweeter without the luxury of spare cash.

Well put Lefty
your kids are your life,
they soon grow up,
so we must ENJOY EVERY moment we can with them.
