boilies for pike
there seems to be quite a lot of pike that i hear of caught on carp anglers boilies and not just being reeled in which you can understand some have been static for a long time and the pike have taken them firmly in the mouth .pike are opportunist do you think they could adapt to feed on a purpose made pike boily ie luchious lamprey ,sexy smelt, makerel mania and randy roach ..... think im on to something here

more than likely not how many silver fish peck at boilies?
Re: boilies for pike
Hmmm intresting............Pourpose made pike boilie............ i never used boilie but might have a go this summer for carp/tench/bream
Re: boilies for pike
why not make them fish shaped too...oh hang on you might as well just use a fish....
In all seriousness though - i think it would take a long time for pike to recognise them as a proper food source - after all they hunt mainly through detecting movement and vibration and scent - by fishing a boilie i think you are reducing your chances and relying on the scent only.
No doubt fish do get caught on boilies, but i reckon that 9 times out of ten its a fluke.

Not sure about bollies but when you consider Pike take maggots and and the odd Pike Float i can understand why.Seems Pike Kebabs are causing a bit of a Stir, and they cast really well to boot.Going to give them a go.....Anyone used them

and how many little silver fish could be swirling around said bunch of maggots
unfortunatly so but they really are nothing special, best bet just save the off cuts you get when cutting heads off etc and then use those rather than using decent baits of actually buying the dynamite stuff
Re: boilies for pike
what about a frozen fish finger popped up the roach in theory would peck the golden bread crumbs off it attracting the pike ............you just never know eye eye captain.......

i think the only reason you would seem to accidentally hook a pike when using maggots is because it takes a roach/other fish as it takes the maggots and then you hook the pike.
i keep meaning to try making some pike kebabs to give 'em a try but i never get round to it lol

Re: boilies for pike
promise you wont laugh............but I once carved a carrot into the shape of a fish and stuck some hooks into it
It didnt catch me a pike, but just imagine how cool it would have been if I did. Plus veg would have given the pike a healthier diet
