Baitrunners

Post  Alex Makk on Sun Feb 14, 2010 4:21 pm

I'm after getting a baitrunner to go with the big pit reel i brought off kell, but i havent really messed/used with these reels.......(only with bazz's) my budget is 50 or less i have been looking at these here

http://tackleoutlet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_15_21&products_id=1733
And also this one:
http://tackleoutlet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_15_21&products_id=2196

They both in my budget...but like i have said i have never used them and i don't want to make a wrong purchase.

Any recommendations and/or reviews on the ones i'm looking at?

i use these mate - great reals for price - best of both worlds - big spools and baitrunner facility. Metal spools for the braid and plastic for the mono. Can't recommend them enough.

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews146004.html

can find them cheaper if you shop about - i paid 40 each for mine.

the interceptors look a good buy the pro 60 sounds alright for most of your fishing needs,ie stillwater, river, canal, good price aswell buy two and they should be ok with your rods for balance.
cheers.

in theory, the more ball bearings the smoother the reel.

These are both great reels for the money.. I had a look & wind of the Camo one at the PAC convention back in October, it was very smooth & well finished, dunno about the Interceptor but it has a very good reputation, on all accounts. DON'T buy any Mitchell Premium 30 FR's off Pauls angling, the casing is thin plastic & will crack

We will make a tackle tart out of you yet.. lol! well, I will, assisted by Kell! lol! lol! afro

Those reels look very much like this one (its a Mitchell Premium 30), Alex.

I have two, the casing has split on one. Happened when I was trying to pull clear of the snag in the Trent that day... still works ok but the plasic case has split.
It resembles the Okuma Intercepter a lot (probably the same reel Rolling Eyes )

Here's the Interceptor, spool is different with holes in it but all three reels are quite similar

most of the Mitchell is, with one or two plastic covers.....the split piece might be metal but its very thin if it is...they are remarkably similar in design, are they not?

No, still got it... I put the other undamaged one in the NottsPAC raffle, as Alan was really struggling for prizes at the last meeting. Go & have a look at the Dragon Carp one...at least you live nearby & can have a close look Wink

dont get me wrong absolutly lovely reels to spin and the single handle works better for me than a double but you get both anyway so if your feeder fishing the double gets used for pike the single

three spools each smooth clutch...

as i said i think it may have been the braid i used as id never used that rand before, or since for the smae reason as the reels.
