use that all the time when pole fishing for doing the connecting loop on the rigs. it is by far the strongest knot to use, and very easy to tie.

Do you do much pole fishing? I was looking at a whip or a short pole from Argos. I'm only thinking about fishing for roach at spitting distance. I won't be taking up pole fishing in any serious manner. More something I can fling in my holdall and pester the roach with than a serious change of habits. Do you reckon they're worth a crack?

I got my first pole this year off a mate and i've not even bothered with it to be honest Embarassed
I used to have a whip that was good fun to use i had some nice fish on it until i hit into a tench that pulled the eye of the end of the whip Crying or Very sad
I've not bothered with it since !!
I do mean to get into using the pole soon though honest lol
I much prefer rod and line though Cool

I've had a 3mtr tele whip for a while now and still do that Embarassed

I use it the same way as you do chris. Just dangle it in the margins to while away the time until I get a run on my pike rod.

Hmmm. I might just go in and have a gander at some of their whips and poles then. As I say, it's just for a bit of margin entertainment rather than a means to bag up.

And to think I've been using an inferior knot for all these years.

That is an excellent piece of video.

If you haven't seen it and have been put off by the length it repeats itself from another camera angle so you only need to watch the first 10 mins and you won't regret it.

I wouldn't recommend it mate Wink you need a swivel on snap tackle or trace wire at all times in my opinion the swivel is much more knot friendly as the wire can be abrasive which make your line very weak and thats the last thing you want Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

nope but you can get bouyant beads, cork, polystyrene etc

does the wire not sink then

anyway try one of the stainless rings they use in carp fishing, instead of the swivel

i like to let my surface lures rest and i notice the swivel is sinking when i do this

this will be happening when fishing other lures too under the water

perhaps we need floating wire or at least nutral boyancy
