Re: anybody out this weekend on the pike
I got myself out for a few hours this morning,
Although when i pulled up at my local water and the sun beaming down and not a sole on the place, i did have second thoughts that, 2day might not be the day, How wrong,
Having got the bait in the water and playing about with the set up a few times and also getting a couple of dropped runs, 11.30 see,s me getting my first pike of the season on the mat,

.
The wieght goes to 10lbs 12oz after the deduction of the wiegh sling,
I,m pleased no matter what size she went, just felt good for the first pike to be in my hands at this point in time,
Another drop run at 12,00 and 12.15, enoughs enough, time to pack up and head off home happy...

good result there nidge in hard conditions...just goes to show that if you find the fish and they are hungry they wont be worrying about if the moon phase is right or the barometric pressure is ok

No we didn,t do that bad and yes they were good lads , patch and rob were certainly a true pleasure to fish with and they are really dedicated and genuine about there fishing .
They deserved all they catch cause they don,t expect the fish to be put in there hands , they listen and take on board the advise and put it to good effect in there own fishing i,ve got total respect for them both .
I was pleased to be able to show them how good the fishing can be if you know where to go on the fens and no doubt i will be fishing with them again before the season ends .

Re: anybody out this weekend on the pike
after a poor previous week, i decided to pre-bait with around 2kg of mushed up sprats into a fish paste.
baited weds lunch and then friday lunch.
arrived saturday morning around the 630am mark just before light, got fully setup up then dangled the maggot for some lives away from my baited area for about 45mins or so, until i had enough to start.
attacked with 4 rods:
1. popped up trout towards the far bank
2. roaming live bait to near right hand margin
3. roaming live bait half way across
4. roaming live bait again, this time was more of a stalking rod to start, then moved it across to the far right of my swim.
wasnt long before i got my 1st fish, nothing massive, but it was a start:
long 7lb 3oz:
1hr or so later another potential 20lb + fish arrived at the net, this girl took a large 8" fat roach. Exactly in the same area as my other 2 big girls i caught in week 1 and week 2. This is a NEW fish and not a re-catch.
17lb 6oz:
after safely returning that, i had 3 more small jacks in very quick succession again on live silvers.
then another upper single well conditioned pack hit the net:
7lb 11oz:
during the rest of the day just before it got dark, i had a few more, again nothing big, i did loose 2 fish to stalking, but then i finally got my revenge and caught it, so that was pleasing..
had 1 other, this time on a drifted dead bait, so again was pleased in that
all in all, finished on 11 fish to 17lb 6oz.
Role on next week, where im meeting coldfeet, yuccaman at pitsford res for some bigger girls....
