stellas are better as are a good few daiwa's dont ignore okumas though some are spot on, or if you want something a little different US built penns, a fair few of the JDM reels out there like evergreen or abu ones for the japs will give you a top end reel
what sort of size/budget?

i use cheap end okuma baitrunners the undertaker and have done for four or five years now cant fault them they get used for sea work boat fishing for pike river piking barbel carp (not often though) and they still shine and run very smooth, no faults with them at all

oh and they cost 25 quid from either taskers or baileys was in both shops that day and bought a pod from one the reels from the other
