Re: 45lb 14oz Yorkshire Pike
I agree that it is all money orientated by the venue owner at the sake of the fish's welfare.
I also agree that this is more than likely the beginning of the end for the old lass. And that is the biggest loss as far as I'm concerned. Sod the extra revenue this fish could bring in, think of her first.
As has been said, she's probably rarely, if ever, been caught before and then all of a sudden she's going to be repeatedly dragged out of the water (and for too long at a time) forced to pose for pictures, then put back so it can all start again.
How many times will she be dropped or abused by the numpties? Deep hooked? Line snapped off (and therefore trailing it behind her whilst having the hooks still embedded in her jaw) None of these will be written into the catch reports will they?
It doesn't take a genius to work out the eventual outcome does it?
Sorry for the rant, but it makes my blood boil when all the owner and potential captors think about is their 5 minutes of fame and glory. When I win the lottery (fingers crossed) my venue will have a no publicity clause and regular tackle inspections. If you don't like that then don't come to it.

The girl by the looks of some of the photos was in and out of the water no end of times one with the capter one with capture and owner etc keeped in trout pen over night even.
There is no need for it if it is NOT down to money why advertise the venue you can still put it in the papers but why does the owner have to be in the pics ?
who fancys a little wager it is not seen again only until she is dead.?

my thoughts exactly about taking hooks out striaght away ? i have no dought about the guys angling abilitys but that fish has now been out three times in as many weeks she will be dead soon ? then no one not even the privelaged few who can fish for her will have her grace there nets.
was there only one guy fishing those two days did not see anyone else. that lake will be open to all and sundry soon to fish for her.
the guy only fished that lake because she had been caught anyone on hear could catch that fish and it would be special but not really a great capture the lad who caught her first had the special capture all the rest are just part of the circus.
how long before he struck ?
why did they not film it like the first day?
how long to get boat to shore as they were fishing at back of lake?
why have to ring everybody ?
