With the colder weather settin in, try slowing you lures down and working them deeper. Jerkbait may be the way forward

Im new too mate, and now my beloved salmon and brownie season is finished im trying the pike . Going some conger fishing soon too! Been pike fishing a few times now and to be honest its trial and error. There are many rigs people say are most popular and what to use etc but its trying new things. I had a pike epxert show me that bait alarms dont work, he put the line onto an alarm picked up the bait walked about with it and it didnt work. some people say if a pike feels the tension even on a baitrunner then they will spit bait out so why fish with weights? Surely they will feel that, why use bait runners instead of flicking your bail arm over? Trial and error, there is no hard and fast rule with pike in my opinion
