my "thirty" ??

Well, i could have kept this quiet, but i would only be kidding myself. ( Egg on face springs to mind ! )

Saw my mate yesterday who weighed my "avatar" fish......................HE SAID ITS NOT A THIRTY !!!

He said...............It probably was a Thirty at some time as it was a very old fish with a HUGE head and length to match.

He also said no mistake was made with the weight at 24 1/2lb !! Dont know what to think really, but all the same, it was a great fish.

Guess i will leave you lot to make up your own mind.

he is so wrong, theres no way he read those scales correctly

I wouldn't worry about it Doug at the end of the day its a cracking fish

still looks bigger than my 28lb mate im not bad a guestimates normally...

im sorry but your mate is full of s**t, He has proved this by stating ''no mistake was made with the weight at 24 1/2lb'' If we was talking about something that happened yesterday then maybe, but this was about 12 years ago and using avons lol, I would bet my life that no other person in the world after looking at that pic would say that was only 24 1/2lb, Its the 30 we all know it is so brag like hell about it

Put it this way, I saw a 23lb come out last Sunday and we weighed it at 2b dead, 3 people variefied the weight, your fish in the avatar dwarfs the 23lbr!!!
Yours is an easy 30 at least, I'd say 30 to 32lb!

Aye looks like a case of green cheese to me Doug, it's a poor show when this happens between pals.

I take 2 sets of scales with me, berkley digitals and nash dials just in case I get a big fish.

I'm no expert but it does look like a 30+ to me, well done mate.

we and nearly all the lads on here are confident that your fish has got to be 30 plus your mate is not kidding us doug congrates on a very big fish mate ive started quite a stir with this one adie was on it as well it just stood out from the crowd doug............

id have put it working you out at being about 5 10

at a mid maybe upper 20 bearing in mind your holding it out at the bottom so that gives more perceptoion rather than an indication of its length

avons at 24lb are what 32 lb on the next run round i think hazy memory on that i must admit so maybe its possible.

how long was it? what sort of girth

I,m 5ft 6. A tiddler really. Cant say how long the pike was as didnt measure it. Had no reason to measure it at the time mate.

It had a decent girth as i remember, but as i said, no reason to measure it at the time.

I posted previously about the Avons, and yes, 1 more revolution is 32lb

(bear with me on this) this may be going really far out there but is there no way to recreate the picture ie stance/angle and sort of hold an object same length then you will get length and then try and roughly work the width obviously you cant tell how fat it is................or just state the obvious and call it a 30pound fish

What i,m gonna do next time i get a decent pike ( 20lb +), i,m gonna hold it in same way and then compare the pics to see how the avatar pike looks against that one.

Should give me a better idea Tom.
