I got a Big S ticket one year and fished it ten times through out the season and caught one 10lb pike. It is a stunning place
to fish and I will be back again this season there are some big pike in there.

I think I've got lucky to be honest, we've been 5 or 6 times and I've manged to always catch but often my friends have blanked. From what I'm told you have to hit it just right when the big fish are on the feed (they are very susceptible to change in weather/conditions). The guys who are fortunate enough to fish it regularly are much more in tune to when they're 'on it' and can often stack up a number of big fish in a single session.
I'm also told that if you're catching the smaller pike then it's unlikely the bigger pike will be feeding, whenever the bigger pike come out no one seems to be catching anything small. Not sure what to make of this but it seems consistent with the catch reports.
Shame there's no live baiting any more, I'm sure that would make things easier

Re: chew valley
Its like any water hit it right and you will bo well. I fished a water a few weeks ago and we had 21 pike beween us fished it on Wednesday caught 4 and the conditions looked better. I know that they have a algae problem on there that may make a difference.

Re: chew valley
that's pike fishing for you .......now if you had stayed there and caught nowt you would have regreted moving , think on a big water like that it pays to find out where the big fish have come out and stay in that area and just wait for them to show .........if they do timing plays a big part in it......me thinksthe bat wrote:Caught where we fished on weds😣
