Re: Anybody Catching
Tough day yesterday, just one double at 16lb 9oz and a few jacks, all on lures. We're getting a lot of easterly winds just now and the fish don't like it it seems.

Re: Anybody Catching
Good day today me and my daughter (7)
Went for an hour throwing on local canal 2 miles from home
She could not wait till sat as I gave her a shimano scimitar 6 foot for her birthday
She nailed a huge 40 cm perch and a 60 cm pike (bout 8 pounds)
And I managed to hook a wee 7 inch pike on a 8 inch lure wtf.
Poor thing had the entire belly treble in its mouth
Am I glad I squish the barbs on all my lures

Re: Anybody Catching
Still a good day Eric any day out on the bank is better than being at home or work
Well done Dave a pike is a pike I love them at any size But the small one's are perfect little pike even at that size
Never tried one myself but I hear they are very good livebait

Re: Anybody Catching
Our laws prohibit killing of pike they are somewhat scarse due to the fact they Al got eaten
Older people here (I refuse to call them anglers) still abuse the law by letting the fish swallow
So they have an exuse
But I'm pleased to say these sorts are disappearing due to police efforts for more controls waterside
And a poach line for reporting
So I could never use it for bait
But I know they are canibals
I' have seen a meter plus kill and eat a good 70cm in clear shallow water
70 had been tailing my lure for some distance and when I stopped my suspending lure by a lily pad
the pike also stopped that's when the lily's exploded

slow start
been out today but had a very slow start , so moved onto a smaller lake next door and had one within 15 minutes
then lost a good fish on a replicant then are kid lost a fish close in on a dead trout........ then caught one later all jacks to about 6lb
thought we were going to blank but the move paid off.......... do any of you guys move if its slow or sit it out
we sat in the first peg for about 5 hours without a sniff.........

Re: Anybody Catching
I fish mostly lures
But if I feel conditions are not right I hop in my car
And change venue
Is one ov the advantages of lure fishing is you can travel very light
And actively search for active pike

Re: Anybody Catching
I have had fish after moving and also fish after waiting it out for long periods, it depends on the weather and amount of other anglers about, and also as my site name suggests I can be quite lazy as well lolstubbo wrote:been out today but had a very slow start , so moved onto a smaller lake next door and had one within 15 minutes
