up traces and live bait traces
How big should a up trace be and how big should your live bait trace be?

They can vary, say 18" for the bait trace but be sure that the up trace is longer, say 24" for example... You dont want a situation where a hooked Pike can get both your trace and the main nylon / braid line in its mouth at the same time eg if the bait swims up to the surface nearer your float and the up trace is too short and a Pike grabs the bait and line together, it could happen
