39lb 15oz pike venue named in Anglers Mail

Post  Andy Webster on Thu Dec 02, 2010 6:07 pm

The venue that the 39lb 15oz pike was captured from is named in this weeks Anglers Mail as Wykeham Lakes near Scarborough

The website says it is a nine acre lake. I assume it is frozen at the moment. I wonder how many anglers will be fishing there after the thaw?

Do you thing the venue owners would encourage the naming of the venue to bring extra coins in?

Andy

unfortunately its a venue i was planning to fishing more with a mate. being local we knew about this place from years ago (trout water) that only quite recently opened its doors to pikers.

the lad that caught it was on his first piking trip i believe...what a result to a lure too! shame he weighed it in a laundry bag, thought it nesassary to take 18 photos, and leave it flapping on the bank for far too long...the circus won't be catching that fish again i think...a real shame...but hey at least he got his name in the paper...

well thats ******d that up then lol...cheers angling press...

three cheers for the lad who caught it but he has not done the pike anglers any favours as in the way the fish was alledgedly treated surly there was somebody there who could have helped him or advised him about the safty of the fish Sad

Nige is on it right now with an ice-pick, a bag of tench (to push that 39 over the 40 mark by way of insertion) and someone elses boat.

One of the reasons why I wouldn't go to a lake where it's been reported that a biggie has recently come out. And yeah, the owner of the water is probably only thinking of his pockets when he reports it to the press.

If it was my water, there'd be a 'no publicity' policy in place.
