Oh the cruel irony...
Well i found out that my local drain was fishable so thought i would venture out for a piking sesh after going stir crazy the past couple of weeks...bending down to grab my boots and head out the door and my lower back tears. Ouch. Extremely painful and a problem i've had before. Bollox, bollox, Bollox...
Spent all day popping pain pills and trying to find a comfy position on the sofa.
Just hope i can get it sorted out before the local lakes become fishable again!

Re: Oh the cruel irony...
cheers fellas
I'm not new to all this - the original damage was done when i was 17 during a rugby match when the scrum collapsed and I got badly injured (my vertibrae popped apart and caused loads of nerve damage)...never been the same since. Seems to come around every 2-3 years...just as i'm thinking my back is stronger again
Shovelling snow and doing a lot of manual work can't have helped lately...typical it goes when i was doing something mundane like bending to pick up a shoe

Re: Oh the cruel irony...
I gave myself a groin strain last week putting my socks on....no kidding. I hadn't moved in bed all night, which isn't unusual (my ex thought I had died one night). Sat up and went straight for my socks cos it was cold. Twang!
No can-can dancing for me.
Methinks I'll have a stretch first from now on...or at least until the temp. gets up a bit.

Bad luck Tootall, get well soon mate, I am going stir crazy too, went on a reccy on Saturday, but all my local waters are still either unfishable or cant get access to them. I spent yesterday afternoon making traces, I have enough for 4 seasons , well it does beat D.I.Y.

Re: Oh the cruel irony...
My boiler was gubbed last week with the condenser pipe freezing solid. I'm quite sure it was my socks I was going after.

Re: Oh the cruel irony...
well after 9hrs in A&E, sensitivity tests and an MRI scan i luckily found out I dont need an op (which is what was talked about initially by my GP) but i do have a slipped disc, torn ligaments and nerve damage. Been told to rest up for a few days and take take tablets. Hopefully see some improvement soon.
Thank god for good fishing books and the PS3...

You did that reaching for boots??? Imagine what could have happened if you has actually done something really strenuous, like putting the rubbish out or going for a turd.
Sorry mate....just trying to lighten things up....
