Lets share those important lessons we have learned this year so everyone can benefit.

I'll start us off.

The lesson I will take forward from 2009 2008 is that you don't have to get up at the crack of a sparrows fart and spend all day sitting behind a plethora of rods to catch pike. Believe me, for many years I thought this was the case. Back in January I bought my first dedicated lure rod, a telescopic Daiwa Telespin, a spool of braid and a couple of lures. Since then my simple setup goes with me everywhere. Sometimes I even find an hour to have a cast.

Using this gear I have caught from ten different waters around the UK in 2009 2008:

I have only caught from one of these waters with deadbaits this year.

My fishing has never been so much fun.

I too want to take up lure fishing on a more regular basis.

A lot more water can be covered and more opportunities to catch.

As much as I don't mind sitting behind a rod all day, the roving method is very appealing.

Ended up with just an afternoon session at Sanderson's pond.

Nothing doing. Two other guys there and they said they hadn't had anything either.

Oh well, at least I got out there instead of sitting at home and trying to think of recipes for left over turkey Very Happy
