bank sticks or rod pod

Post  doug6364 on Mon Dec 19, 2011 7:09 pm

ive always used bank sticks, but last week i got the NASH "H GUN" 2 ROD POD for my piking.

not a bad bit of kit this and it works great with my fox pike swingers on the back rests as they are in line with the reels. much easier to sit it down than try and push bank sticks into frozen soil !!

anyone else use this set up ?? Very Happy Very Happy

bank sticks or rod pod

Post  doug6364 on Mon Dec 19, 2011 9:52 pm

i dont think the bank sticks will be redundant just yet.

i like using the pod but the thing thats annoying is when you are playing a fish, you have either gotta keep the fish away from the other line if there is room, or move the other rod out the way. with bank sticks, at least you can space them further apart to give a bit more room for playing a fish..............or is it just me who thinks like this ?

lol! lol!

i always choose bank sticks if i can. with a rod pod you are not able to angle your rod tips to point straight too your bait. if your line between bite alarm and bait is at an angle, your bite detection is greatly reduced. IMO Very Happy Very Happy

YOU ARE RIGHT MBA. YOU HAVE TO GET THE LINE AS STRAIGHT AS POSS OTHERWISE YOU JUST DONT GET THAT POSITIVE INDICATION. YOU CAN POSITION BANK STICKS TO ACCOMODATE A STRAIGHT LINE OF COURSE.

If you get the right rear buzz bar you can use 3 rods with dropoffs.

You need to have both a pod and secure banksticks for different conditions. But I love the clean lines of a well set up pod (tackle tart) Very Happy

A TRUE tackle tart would not be able to fish with that set up,I know a proper one that would confine himself to 2 rods rather than fish with 1 that was not identical.lol.
Nice pic bud.

I am with the bankstick brigade for piking especially on Rivers when I tend to go leapfrogging, I use a pod when Carping as I dont tend to move anywhere.

Yeah banksticks for me also, I like the fact that I can point my rod directly at where my bait has landed for less resistance. Notice I said where my bait has landed because sometimes where I want it to go and where it actually lands can differ somewhat.
