using livebaits
its years since i used a livebait. i,m just not really comfortable doing it. but i would if it was the only way to get a pike on a difficult water. all my big pike have fallen to deads.
anyone else a bit iffy bout using livvies ?

Re: using livebaits
NO. I use them all the time. TBH most of my twenties have came from deads but theres something about a livebait that just gives you the edge on a slow day. Some of the trout waters i fish deads are snaffeled up by the pesky troot before the pike get anywhere near them. Its an ongoing argument that will never go away about wether its right to use lives or not. Its illegal in scotland and wales to use them but at the moment its still okay in england and untill that changes im gonna keep using them.

Re: using livebaits
I often fish both lives and deads(subject to catching a few) and have no qualms whatsoever,but I am reluctant to fish a livie over 8oz, I just feel its unfair to the non predator anglers who fish the water,a few small livies should have little or no impact on a water but I have seen anglers using lb+ roach and imho this is out of order.
I was snatching on a 4mtr whip to hand last week and had a succession of perch from 12oz to a pound and a half and it was great fun and to some a 1.5lb perch is along the lines of a mid double pike to me,so they all went back and I had a couple to the deads so didn"t mind.
Lets face it we are the first one to scream and shout if pike in any water are killed.

if i was to use a livvie, it would only be 4oz or so. i have seen people using ridiculous size roach and i have voiced my opinion at them onlY to be told to go forth and multiply ! educated people there were, NOT !!

Re: using livebaits
I would use live baits if I could catch them first but I very rarely get the chance to. Deads are far more convenient for me.

Re: using livebaits
you'll slam two size 6 trebles in to a pikes mouth, but putting a livie on seems wrong ?????

Never used a livebait as none of thewaters I fish allow it, although I know a few guys do as i have seen supposed dead bait floats bobbing up and down and the guys not bothering with them the cheeky buggers.

using deadbaits
when i previously used livvies years back, what i found deadly was using a snap tackle with two livvies on. one on the front treble mouth hooked, and same on the rear.
anyone else tried this, if not you wanna give it a go. the takes are electric !!
