newbie help
hi all
fished for most spiecies love tench and carp but always remember catching a pike at a drain at keadby when i was a kid so thought it would be a good idea to have a go for them once again
gone out bought lure rods reels and lures lol ( our lass has not got a clue as to price i hope )
anyway what is the best way of carting this lot around and what is the best way of getting some help localy when just starting out instead of just blindly walking the canals and rivers lakes ect and someone to advise me instead of just blowing money on kit i may never use

Hi Kell & welcome to the forum.
Why not 'hook up' with Chris & Adie, you can't get a better offer than that & they are both experienced chaps.
Enjoy the forum, it is a good one.

Re: newbie help
to cart large lures around one of the best methods is a bucket with holes drilled on top of the lip and let the lures hang.
no doubt someone will point out pro logic lure caddys or plano systems but have a look at the prices of those then compare them with the bucket 99 pence from tescos
although saying that i have recently put all mine into black and decker boxes that fit into a crate, ive done this as we have a baby in the house and the loose hooks are not the safest of things.

Noodle, veer from the bucket and I shall refrain from speaking to you ever again. We are supposed to be 'Bucketeers' and I'm almost offended that you'd even consider going into B&Q. It's the bucket or nothing. I'd have a think about this one my friend.
Oh yes, welcome aboard Kell.....
PS: Just how many pikers live in Doncaster??

I keep my deadbaiting traces in a small Tupperware........at first i ended up with a tangled mess to sort out on the bank. I now have them separated in between old used envelopes, seems better but there MUST be a better way
As for lures (all 3 of them ) they come out of a larger Tupperware stuck into my fingers , a bucket beckons....

which flambeau
it is its lovely and keeps everything nice and neat and weihs what about two pounds on top of the lures. then there is all the drawers to go through when you want a lure so no quick changes to cover a following fish.

how many lures qould you get in that?
50 or so decent6-8inch minnow baits in a bucket is easliy acheivable for bigger lures it does drop you would only get 20-30 mixed jerkbaits in there depending on the profile of the lure
things like ace sorcy's will fit loads in but big chop shaped baits reduce this somewhat

Oi !! How very dare you
Must say I like the idea of a bucket.
Bazz you said "I keep my deadbaiting traces in a small Tupperware........at first I ended up with a tangled mess to sort out on the bank. I now have them separated in between old used envelopes, seems better but there MUST be a better way"
I use a round tub about six inches tall (like a beaker) with a screw on lid (£1 from Instore on Wheatley Hall Road) and have some 15mm foam pipe lagging inside it. I wrap my traces around the pipe lagging and secure them with pins.
