Re: east midlands venues
Speak to the locals, most pike fisherman are pretty accommodating
Not sure if livebaits are allowed, but if so id move around the lake 1 hour in each swim, try to find the fish
Try the margins
Look for where the bait fish are showing
Look for pike chasing fry
Any birds hunting fish, give that area a go.
Put a second rod out – deadbait
Speak to the matchmen, they usually moan about pike taking their bait.
Spend time on the water; it won’t take long to work it out.
Never fished it, but it’s got fish to 26 advertised on the site.
GOOD LUCK

Re: east midlands venues
You have stated that your a beginner, so I'd highly recommend that you at least have a trawl through the internet on unhooking & handling of the pike, plus if you can get out with someone with the experience it'd be a lot better for you and the fish's welfare.
Have a look at the local canals and rivers, they are likley to hold pike. but don't stick to one peg, try a roving approach wobbled deadbaits or lures.
I'm sure that the local tackle shop with point you to one or two venues so that coule be an ideal start. maybe a club or synicate might also be worth joining.

When it come to the second rod would you ledger the deadbait and how long between casts ? Also what are popular deadbbaits I've got a few of the pike packs from the local tackle shop any preferred baits ? Cheers for help .
