Titanium leader :(
Lost two expensive lures using this now getting snagged, the ti must be slipping out of the crimp, the first time I was pulling really hard but today it didn't take much effort,
Certainly wont be using crimps again, confidence completely gone, I read something about this happening a couple of days ago too

Re: Titanium leader :(
Are these leaders that you've made yourself or leaders that you've bought?
You won't get away with using single crimps on Ti, especially if it's solid, rather than cabled Ti. You have to use double-barrelled crimps and push it through the crimp three times.

Re: Titanium leader :(
I made them myself, I got the wire and crimps from Nev's shop and although it says on the pack "nev likes to use two crimps at each end" the lad in the shop said there's no need,
I asked about pushing it through 3 times and he said no need again.

Well he's wrong, as you've discovered to your cost I'm afraid. I'm guessing it was Bob who said that (skinny guy, big quiff?). At a push you can get away with single crimps and pushing the wire through three times but the best solution is definitely double-barrelled crimps. I use these and a Spro crimper and they never fail on me. I'll talk to Nev.

That might be him late 20's, would you still need to do it like that for deadbaiting rigs because when I first went in I think it was for making those and I suppose you don't often get snagged deadbaiting. Don't want to get anyone in trouble lol

Not Bob then, he's my age, thirty something
Don't worry, I'll handle it with care. Doesn't matter whether your lure fishing or bait fishing you need a secure fixing.

Re: Titanium leader :(
Ok that's good, at least it was only a couple of lures lost, could have been a lot worse especially for a pike

I've started to use the Lynx Titanium leaders. Have you seen them? They're really good quality and haven't let me down (Yet!)
Take a look at them, well worth it!
