But do we believe them lol they have got it wrong that many times i don't trust them any more i just use them as a guide and hope they have either got it right or wrong depending on the forcast lol
I always use metcheck as a rough guide
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/14days.asp?zipcode=doncaster
Its as good as most weather forcasts

Re: more snow on way
just had a look at the met office forecast myself mate.... yes it seems there is more light snow on the way BUT watching the temperature it looks like its going to be following the same steady pattern for the next week i.e. within a few degrees above freezing during the day then dropping slightly into the minuses at night. also the wind seems to be staying to the west side of the compass.
i think the pike may start to feed a little more confidently as long as the lakes aren't frozen because although its still very cold the pike will now be getting used to the drop in temperature.

I think photoperiod might also have an effect on how mobile pike are. Naturally pike won't spawn until the temperature of the water they lay their eggs in is suitable enough to keep them alive but as the length of daylight increases, temperature or not, that is a sign that spring is on the way and so, their habits like feeding, investigating possible spawning grounds, feeding etc. will all vary.
I know pike don't hibernate as such but they certainly go into a state of torpor or lethargy, which is thought to be light related. In fact there is a condition known as 'torpor reĀ“tinae', which is sluggishness brought on by a lack of light in the retina, so theoretically, as the length of daylight hours increase, the state of torpor should decrease.
I'm theorising here but can anyone else explain why pike would start to feed more, even though the weather has worsened??

Could be right there. Maybe they see a turn for the worst as a reason to feed more. A bit like sticking an extra jumper on. Good reasoning there Nick.
