i'd say you'll be fine in that mate.... also take a flask of hot tea/coffee, some food, a chair so you're not spending all day sat on cold ground and some form of shelter (a decent 50" brolly should do) to act as a windbreak... believe me when the temperature's near freezing with even a slight breeze this can help alot!!

Hi Bradfordlad

The suit looks ideal for winter piking. I'd definitely get some warm footwear. If your feet get cold you will just want to go home. A wooly hat is another must have item.

Went out today & fished near a Carp guy. He was wrapped & Bivvied up & had been there since 7.30am! He didn't get a touch & neither did I! Got talking to him, nice chap with several 40lb+ Carp to his name. The venue is private & bans bivvies but he tells me its ok in daytime as its classed as a shelter, the venue bans night fishing full stop. It wasn't particularly cold but he fishes for Carp all year round, not interested in Pike. He was trying his best to convert me into Bazzcarpy! Very Happy
I do have a Bivvy but god, all the gear to cart about..you can't get to this water by car, its very secure and access by gate with a security code, then walk along a muddy path. He had a two wheel barrow as do most who fish there, I get away with a 6rod quiver and a chair bag.
The chap knew how to keep warm, he had a Leeda fleece lined one piece suit & a waterproof overcoat. Wink

I wear these. Theyre ugly looking things and not good to walk far in but hey, are they warm! Very Happy

One piece suits are great as there is less chance of draughts getting in but what puts me off them is, what about when you need to take a dump?

just unzip the suit and drop it off down your legs..... just make sure the top half isnt laid on the ground under you while doing the deed.... could end up VERY messy.... pull it through your legs or something Laughing

Fortunately never had to do 'that deed' whilst fishing but if its cold and I've been there all day and drunk plenty of coffee etc.. I will probably have to do the other 'deed'! Like Rob says....there are 'techniques'..!

Thermal t-shirt, proper socks, woolly hat but the best thing I'd recommend has to be a fleecy snood pulled up over the nose. Lovely!

I have the Korum lightweight jacket - use it all year round. On its own on rainy spring/ summer days. Then with under-layers in winter. Good quality - and a good fit. Arms are long - with neoprene sleeves. Decent hood. Loads of pocket space.

I just collect old clothes and wear as much as humanly possible under my jacket and waders with a smattering of Thinsulate here and there.

Another thing I've found to be invaluable and arguably one of the best buys I've ever made....a windshield reflector. You know the types for car windows with the foil stuff on them??

Aw man they are the shiznit on a seat, on top of a unhooking mat or under your sleeping bag. As long as you have the foil side directed towards your body, it deflects heat back towards you.

I got one for a quid from a pound shop!! Invaluable piece of kit.

See me....cheapskate.... geek
