Re: Website for Deadbaits
The baits look reasonably priced although the delivery charge of £7 has to be considered. Mind you, delivery is free on orders over £60. Does anyone know what the quality and reliability is like?

As you say Andy, the £7 delivery charge made me think twice. By the time you've added that you could probably buy cheaper at the fish market or local tackle shop.
Free delivery over £60 seems like far too much money to spend for me. HOWEVER, get a couple of mates to get their orders in at the same time and you may well find yourself actually saving some money.

Re: Website for Deadbaits
Yes chris, they use a colourant
Seriously though you can get proper colourant for deadbaits although I suppose food dye could be used.
'Paint' your dead fish and then freeze them. This supposedly works better than just 'painting' them and using them as the colour soaks into the fish better as it freezes.
Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Re: Website for Deadbaits
Baits Direct are spot on. I've always had really good and I mean REALLY good baits from them. Bear in mind I live in Glasgow. I thought there might be a problem with distance and quality but no, the baits were sealed up tight in a big polystyrene fish box, packed all the way round with more polystyrene. The lamprey are the best I've had anywhere. Nice, big, fresh, well vacuumed and completely frozen solid.

Re: Website for Deadbaits
My local tackle shop sells "pike packs" for £1.90.......this includes 2 small mackerel, 1 large and a large tail.
Think I'll stick with my local supplier

Re: Website for Deadbaits
get to the fish counter at your local supermarket half an hour before it closes, they reduce the prices down from pounds to pence. I got some really cheap Mackerel last week, it makes "Fishing Republic" look like "Fishing Ripoff"
