Ron Thomson Gear Any Good?
Hi guys i just found a Ron Thompson Evo Concept Carp Rod 2.5lb for £10 brand new just wondering if anyone knows what the quality is like as i recently had an accident with my Wychwood Agitator whilst moving house and due to the move can't really afford to splurge big bucks on a new 1 just yet.

Buy it for £10 and use it until youve saved up for a new agitator, doesnt really matter about the quality does it at that price. Its a stop gap until you get a better rod thats all. You can always use it as a second rod once you get your agitator.

and it probably will be good enough, although cheap rods tend to have long handles, but that makes casting big weights a little easier

I had a 12' match rod a few years ago, really good rod and as others say, very robust. I changed it for a drennan series 7 only because I was doing more stick float fishing and wanted as lighter rod as possible. Go for it, at least it's something we've heard of rather than some obscure thing off ebay.

I ended up getting the rod seems a quite solid rod especially for the price. A bloke in the shop said hes got a couple of them and he's had them for years without any major probs.
