rivers mate,
was forced into fishing a (polluted) river some years ago all other rivers around me were stiff, this river tidal ,but did it open my eyes, had some good fish new surrondings and some memorable times on it.

We're supposed to be getting a couple of warmer days by the weekend but don't hold your breath to the stillwaters thawing enough. If they are sheltered from the sun and wind too, forget it.

Your best bet is to go to flowing waters such as rivers and canals.

I myself am hoping to get out this weekend (fingers crossed I can get our lass to let me Very Happy) and will be going to the local canal,
