gin clear,, bright sunshine,, every deadbait known to man layed on and popped up.
ZILCH!!
was brilliant fun tho and if nothing else it taught my spaniel pup how to be bored without whinging LOL
on the plus side no-one else caught either despite using livebaits etc so i wasn't the only one. WOW now i remember why i love piking.
great to get back to this brilliant hobby.
oh and i learned that i can no longer carry the amount of stuff i used to for long distances so all in all a great learning day for me and the dawg...

why not try the opposite deads hard on the bottom it worked for me a few weeks a go bright sunshine flat calm had 4 fish nobody had any on the lures.....

Good tip mate. That crossed my mind, so one of the days I made a point of fishing for a few hours at this spot instead of just a steady lure session. I did my usual lure chucking since the conditions seemed right for it, but I also stuck a dead bait out. I kept plonking it in places where I normally catch a fish, so as to give it a good chance. I then resorted to letting it drift around. Of forgot to add that I pre baited with a few offerings the day before and I even made a chum mix up of all the blood and guts etc on the day. Only thing everything proved were that either the fish weren't on the feed or weren't even in the area at all.

I like your thinking though mate, often the opposite can do the trick in any type of fishing.
