spawning time?

at what temp do pike go into spawning mode?is it they need so many days at a certain balance in temp first,an what temp is that.think it might be a bit later with these cold snaps?

yeah mate pike are quite easily identifiable as long as you have photos of the two captures.... thats how i know i had the same 30 twice (a year between captures) instead of claiming 2 individual fish

right i'm going to make myself look daft here but.... how do you tell the difference between male and female. i know for trout and others but not pike

as a general rule of thumb pike over 10lb are more or less definitely female..... the females eat the males after mating (as long as they catch them). as far as i know the largest confirmed capture of a male pike weighed 17lb.
also the fins are normally 20-30% larger in proportion to the body on males than females
