Re: fishing mags
I'm the same nick, I used to buy loads but don't bother now, most not worth the money, loads of good info on the net instead. The only one I will buy now is pike and predators magazine but there's only one shop that I know of that sells it and that's in town so I dont bother with that unless I'm in town and remember.
Re: fishing mags
The PAC magazine "Pikelines" is due out this week. I always look forward to that one.
I usually get Pike & Predators although not every issue. I know of a couple of places that sell it (one close to me). I find that it has some good articles but sometimes its all about boats or something I'm not that interested in. I just like reading about piking and you sometimes get a really good article that opens a new thought process about fishing.
I also buy the 2 weeklies.
I like the Mail for it's "Where to fish" section which has some really good spots featured. I also like Colin Davidson although he covers carp, he's a fantastic writer and has some great ideas that are applicable to more than just carp situations.
I like the Times for its opinions and features. It has an overall quality to the writing that puts it above the Mail in that regard.
Phew...
Regards

Re: fishing mags
usually get AT and AM to check up on where's fishing well if nothing else.
I occasionally get Pike + Predator but i find it hard to come by inthe newsagents near me.
Got bored of a lot of the carping mags as they just seemed to churn out the same old stuff time and time again so I don't bother with most of them now unless there's a free gift or something!

Re: fishing mags
I used to subscribe to IYCF or Improve Your CARP fishing (what do you expect when Kev Green was ed at the time) and P&P and now I've stopped buying both since there's nothing I think I can learn from either. If something new appears in a magazine, you can bet it'll appear sooner or later on a forum anyway as a solution to someone's question.
I think the net is the best mag you can buy and before anyone says it's free, you have to pay your internet provider, so it's not quite free but that's semantics. Information on the net is essentially free but you have to pay for the very thing that provides that freedom.

Re: fishing mags
Here's another thing. How many friends have you made from magazines? I've made loads from forums and magazines only give you one opinion. Forums give you opinions from anything up to dozens of well-experienced anglers.
