Re: River Pike
Whatever you do, pleeeease be sure to use safe rigs. The Ribble is the snaggiest place on earth and every baited trace you leave in the water will be picked up by a pike which will subsequently die, every one.
Be sure your leads can break free easily (link them with a paperclip), don't use braid use thick mono which is much more resistent to abrasion, make sure your hooks can be straightened out by the tackle you use.
My biggest Ribble pike of 31lb 15oz was found dead some months later with a trace stitching its throat, let's make that the last one to go that way.

Yep hopefully... what baits would you go for? I normally only fish canals with livebaits or smelt. Thanks.

A pike is a pike, you can catch them on anything. Personally I would use lures but then that's my preference.

Re: River Pike
well caught no pike had a few chub and barbel.... wasn't really mobile just stayed in the same swim. I will just concentrate on pike next time and be on the move, wasn't much water running through.
