Deadbaits over lives ? ? ? Empty Deadbaits over lives ? ? ?

The last 3 times out all my pike have come to deadbaits rather than lives, any suggestions as to why? All baits were placed in fairly close vicinity to each other and the depth on the lives was varied from being on the bottom, mid water and near the surface.

There could be any number of reasons but i suspect that it is because of the cold snap - it's likely that the pike will be pretty static and lazy so won't go chasing after a livebait. A static dead dropped right on their noses howerver becomes an easy meal to them.

Any other thoughts?

PS I love to livebait, but find that just before spawning and around late summer is the best time for this on the waters i fish.

Hope that helps.

Cool
