Re: Any waters not frozen?
Please let me know if you happened to find one mate............this is what I had to go through in order to wet a line today - all of that and only one dropped pick-up for my efforts!!!
I suppose it still beats sitting watching other people catching fish on the tele though.................

If this cold spell persists or gets worse, as they have predicted it will, I think I am going to head for the River Ribble next weekend???

nah, just one dropped pick-up..................but still a good outing none the less.
I have decided that I am gonna go with the phylosophy that "hours spent with a line in the water = fish on the bank"
PS. He recognised my accent when he got chatting to me.......apparently he had been on holiday to south africa some years ago?

Re: Any waters not frozen?
I have agreed to fish tomorrow in a Notts PAC Fish-in! Alan my joint RO has it organised, he reckons the water (Gravel Pit) hasn't frozen..! Hope he is correct, there will be some grumpy members if he's wrong.
The Tidal Trent is very close but if its like it is in Nott'm, it will be high & chocolate brown. Last time I fished this pit, 10 of us blanked, though local Pike legend Phil Kirk had a Bite-Off! It is quite shallow & was very weedy, hope the recent frost's have killed the weed
Another local legend is Mick Cobb who is a member on here.....come on Mick, where are you?
Mick has had more 20+ Pike than most folk!

Personally i'd have gone down that route rather than risking my life like that.
Brilliant idea TooTall, probably a lot safer............ and easier???
Will definately rather use that method next time the need arrises!
