Re: lure fishing troubles
That's a BIG question, worthy of a book or 3. Without knowing the types of venues, the depths, the terrain, the weed levels, the pike population and all kinds of variables, it would be difficult to offer any kind of advice but I did a thread regarding the use of swimbaits, which are coming into their own at this time of year, so give this a read and if you have any more questions, try and be a little more specific so we can sort out what will and won't work.

lures
to an extent i believe water clarity can play a part on the colour of lure used, but as ive mention in other threads ive been having some luck with a old skool big brass coloured spoon, and that been in all kinds of coloured waters

Re: lure fishing troubles
Hmm, I've never found bright light conditions to be bad for pike fishing at all. In fact, pike love basking in sunshine in the shallows or near the surface so they're not like perch that prefer dull weather or a bit of cover. If the pike are near the top, I change to sub-surface lures, surface lures, poppers, buzz-baits, prop-baits, inline bucktails etc.
At the moment though, I'd be more inclined to fish the deeper swims with crankbaits (plugs) swimbaits, sinking jerkbaits, spoons etc.
