Loch Ken
Hi. I'm new to pike fishing (only my second time going) and was hoping to beat my father-in-law and brother-in-law as we're going to Loch Ken next Monday for a few days. My father-in-law really kicked our @sses last time and I would love to pull more pike out than him especially! Any particular tips for a newbie or anyone fished Loch Ken who has had some luck at particular spots?
Cheers
John

Re: Loch Ken
Wow - been well busy with work since went to Loch Ken and totally forgot to let you know how we got on!
My total catches: 0
Father in law: 5
Brother in law: 8!!
What am I doing wrong!!!
All in all it was a great few days but disappointed not to catch. The biggest catch was also the brother in laws which I think was about 8lb but could be wrong because it's been a while.
Off to the lakes Thursday and Friday to hopefully turn the tide and get myself on the scoresheet this time!
One interesting thing to share though - at one point on the loch the engine had flooded so we were taking it in turns to row when my bro in law managed to get the engine spluttering. We all reeled in our lures so they were just dangling about an inch under the water to avoid tangling while the father in law jumped over to the control. As he was battling with the engine we were drifting totally towards the bank in about 2/3ft of water when all of a sudden BANG a jack flew from nowhere and grabbed my lure which was just ever so slightly in the water. My rod was near my father in law so he grabbed it quickly but unfortunately just as he was bringing the little fella in he managed to get free! Shame we didn't get him in but couldn't believe he had the balls to come into that shallow water for his dinner! One of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen and it was only my second time fishing!
Anyway, let's hope I get a better result this week!!
