The only colour you need to worry about is the top one because that is the one you will be looking at. That said I reckon the best colour to paint a float is white as it should be less visable from underneath (think fighter planes).

ye thats good idea i was only thinking black and orange because orange is sometimes hard to see in certain lights (for me) so if i have trouble i can turn it over and have the black on top which would be easier for me to see in a light backdrop? just wondered if anyone else has dodgy eyes and did the same Laughing

Tom are you colour blind? I can't see orange at all when it's against the water. Try yellow, stands really well for me. You can buy sea floats or as I do paint the orange ones white with tipex then get some luminous yellow paint from the tackle shop

No not colour blind I can only see out of one eye so sometimes concentrating on the float strains my eye and I have trouble seeing it in certain lights only if it's sunny and the sun is shining really hard where my float is it just makes it it strain if it's overcast then I have no trouble with any colour, it sounds weird I know haha but a dark colour makes it easier on a bright back ground scratch

In certain light conditions black is by far the easiest colour to see.
