Anybody tried these lures?
[img][/img]
Was wondering if anybody has tried these lures?
They go under the name "Alive" Roach, a jointed hard bait about 5'' long and weigh about 20gms
I was considering purchasing some. Has anyone out there used these? How is the lure quality? and more importantly what did the fish at your local make of them?
I'd be interested in any comments good or bad!

I've not used them, but i have the exact one in your picture on order, and i'll let you know how it is when it turns up. Its coming from china though so not sure when that'll be, maybe a couple of weeks. (Hey look good in the youtube demo video i saw, but then again doesn't everything.

Cheers lads'
@ Pete' will most likely get a couple myself........ we can compare notes or results!
@Fluffchucker just looked at Archie's lures' yeah he's got a few quite like similiar alright. Have you been using them? with any success?
I have something quite like it already (working well too) made by Trabucco "Rapture Swimbait"
Just dunno know how the one pictured above may work or what the finish is like?
Re: Anybody tried these lures?
They're clones of the ABT banshee swimbait, the clones are plentiful on eBay etc

i'd be interested in how strong they are on the joints etc, and how well you do with them.

Re: Anybody tried these lures?
They arrived the other day, there about 4 and 3/4 inches long, just under 20gms, made well, very strong each segment is joined by two metal pins. Great detail but the colour is lacking saturation is not very strong. They appear to have a good quality hard lacquer finish. Split rings and hooks seem to be of reasonable / good quality.
However my personal opinion is that they have a very poor swim action, why I do not know! I think there is not enough difference in weight between the first head portion of the lure and the latter body sections very little if any "S" movement happening with the lure and they keept falling over in the water......... would not perform what so ever on the drop, and would not sit in the water correctly even in the margin. I was as if the lure had no idea of what it was meant to be doing, a plastic rectangle would have done the same in the water.
I tried them fast and slow but they just did not appear to react as you may expect (like a swim bait). I was thinking of attempting to increase the angle that each segment can move and this may help to get some action into them or a small lead shot just ahead of the tip of the lure may induce the lighter segments behind to move more.
A bigger heavier version may work better but overall I'm rather disappointed to say the least You'd get more action from a kitchen teaspoon.
Overall 1 out of 5

Re: Anybody tried these lures?
oh well, better swimbaits out there for a few extra quid, thanks for getting bac to us.
if your stuck on swimbait I'd recommend the swim & jerk savage gear things or the spro BBZ's

Re: Anybody tried these lures?
mine still haven't turned up. i ordered the six inch version, so i'll report back on these as and when they land.
the impression i got was you worked them a bit like a jerkbait with lots of rod tip twitches to impart action.

Re: Anybody tried these lures?
Yeah I twitched an' jerked em but they just didn't seenm right, not enough resistance in the water -(toy lure came to mind) all over the place. I reckon you'll get a much better result on those bigger one's when they arrive.
