"Only 13lb" ??? You say that as if it's a tiddler
I have to say, that hour I had spare this afternoon was fab. As Gav says, that first cast totally took me by surprise. It was the largest perch I have personally had the pleasure to set eyes upon, and even greater was that it was interested in my lure. Despite jigging the shad in the water at all depths close in (which is when I saw it) and trying further out, it never showed again.
Needless to say, when I have more time, I'll be back at that same spot again.

Re: Anybody Catching???
Went to our usual spot to try my hand at dropshotting using a fake worm. It's the first time I've tried it and I was impressed. Gavin and I caught a total of 15 perch, this being my largest of the session:
You can make out the worm on the floor in front of me. I was using my normal spinning rod which is an Abu Garcia Diamond Crest (12-32gr) with a Shimano Alivio 2500 reel, 10lb Powerpro braid, 6lb mono, size 6 hook and a 1/4oz bomb. A very balanced setup with great sensitivity.
At one point there was a pike of about mid double that went for one of the perch I was reeling in and Gavin shouted me over to where he was trying because 2 perch, that he says were easily 3lbers, were chasing his bright yellow rubber shad.
Dropshotting - definitely a method I will be using again

Re: Anybody Catching???
Well me and lefty did it. After spending a couple of days searching for these monster perch we final got one....
This evening the water was erupting with perch darting across the surface chasing small fry which was brilliant (Nature at its best) once watching the water for a while we finally targeted an are which caught us perch of the top perch mid water and perch on the bottom.
Our tactics changed every other cast and still had consistent catches.
Just thought we would share our success.........BUT wish i had took my scales with
Anyone have any ideas just how big this could be.......????????
