Spinning with Eels (Deadbait)
Hitting a loch on the wst cost of scotland this weekend. going to try spinning with eels as they r so hardy and stand up to repeated casting. aparently the fish in this loch take lures/spinned bait so dying to try it.
Any tips on best set up?
Cheers

hi mate
good luck with it but i think you will struggle to get a decent action with them. if they spin they may look un-natural and spook the pike. i think you would probably have a better chance using savage gear real eels in the darker colours and smearing them with eel slime and juices or lamprey blood.

Re: Spinning with Eels (Deadbait)
Was a decent spot. Not difficult to get to but the water was low making spinning tricky. i had a go with my Da'Bush spinner but gave up after a while and stuck to watching my ledgered baits/staring into space.
the spot we were at was a small loch that runs into a much bigger loch (looks like a man made reervoir tbh as its featureless and barren). i went to investigate said loch and left my pal in charge. whilst away i could hear his frantics shout and he tellsme he lost a monster! he was however in the process of unhookin a nice pike as i arrived back.
we then had a couple of runs each which we lost.
then finally an hour or so later i hooked into one. i got possibly the best birdsnest youhave ever seen but managed to keep it on the line and had it banked an unhooked and back in water in a jiffy.
