Went out yesterday and today, Mainly to Break in my new Outboard, A lovely 20hp 4 stroke Tohatsu, well while I was out i thought why not do a few hours lol. Yesterday saw 4 jacks and a 12lb fish, today was far better with 11 landed with the best 4 being 10lb, 12lb, 13lb, and a fine 18lb 11oz, I may even go tomorrow

3 days on the trot, and the weather got colder and colder. only 4 landed today and missed one, all on the drifters and nothing on the legered baits, best about 9lb, Thats it for a fortnight as they are so close to spawning. Then its lure frenzy time, yahoooo

Still some nice Pike coming out chaps.
There might be a glimmer of hope for us Welsh anglers on Friday if rumours are to be believed.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
I definitely had my last dead bait session of the year today, the next 10 days are for rain and gales so thats that done. I had 2 bites all day, one resulted in a missed strike, the other a lovely long but post spawned and tatty 24lb 5oz. I actually caught this fish in April 2017 at 26lb, so she is past her best bless her. Still a nice fish to finish on

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Thanks David, its been an odd season, very few sessions for me but a great average size, its better to be lucky than good sometimes lol. tight lines mate and good luck with your summer species
Re: Anybody Catching part two
That's a nice pike to end your season on Andy
It has been a funny old season let's hope we have a better summer season with loads of tight lines for everyone
I'm still hoping for a few more pike outings before I hang up my pike rod for this season

Great end to the season, is that three twentys for the season. I think I will have two more sessions before the end of the season.
I could stretch into early April if the weathers not to warm. Then I will try again for a catfish till the rivers open in June.
I have booked a weeks fishing holiday on the Avon.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Thanks lads and well done in your seasons too.
Its 5 so far Psion lol, theres still time for a lure twenty or 30 lol in april when they are back after spawning and the waters still cool enough. 20lb 3oz, 24lb 5oz, 25lb 6oz, 26lb 10oz and 29lb on the nose, with three 19s as backups lol, a great average size and very lucky too as I did nothing different. EXCEPT fell in love with Mackeral, I told you I had my first ever 20 on it a few weeks back, and now Ive had 3 lol I may start using it more

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Once again you have had a great season and you've caught them in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I only wish I could have fished the places I wanted too but, sadly, due to Covid I was restricted.
I was lucky to get a twenty at the start of the season so not a total washout. Then Covid took the heart out of it for me and I found it hard get motivated.
With the future looking better I am looking forward to catfish fishing then Barbel and Chub and also takeing my young grandson fishing. He got a lot of fishing
tackle for Xmas and is keen to get going.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Any season with a 20 is a great season mate, well done. I am envious of the grandson fishing sessions, I really miss my days out with my son and daughter. And cant wait to take grandkids, hopefully soon lol. I've never had or even seen a catfish or zander, England is beautiful too.
season nearly over for us
looks like we are all ready to pack the pike rods away , had 2 sessions out but not on the pike , had some nice roach on the feeder rod for a change, might just get one more session in on the pike and thats it for me this season , tight lines on your summer fishing

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Managed a few hours trolling the lures yesterday, a fantastic way to catch lots of fish, but not really selective unless you use lures 48cm long lol, 4 doubles to 14lb and 6 jacks, Nice to be out in the sun for a change.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Good luck to those who are squeezing in one more Pike trip before the gear gets packed away.
I'm hoping that some of the restrictions are lifted next week and we can all get back out. My targets include getting one of the big Cats out of a club water I'm in. This water has 3-4 Cats over 50Lbs with the biggest over 80Lbs, but it is my bogey water when it comes to Cats. I'll also spend a good few nights early season after a 12Lb+ Bream, as for me there is something special about big Bream. I will definitely be having a couple of Eel sessions later in the summer too.
Wherever and whatever everyone else fishes for this summer, hopefully we'll all continue to enjoy our wonderful sport and everyone stays safe.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
I too will be trying to catch a catfish - I failed last year. When the rivers open it will be Barbel and Chub. I had too many blanks last year.
I have booked a week on the Avon in June so looking forward to that.
I hope you all have a great summer - I will still be dropping into the fourm, so if you catch something special put a picture on so we can all
share in your success. I know if I do get a cat I WILL want to share it with the world!!
