Thanks. It took five a attempts to hook it, I will not be using fish bait on that venue again. It was better than a blank and did keep me entertained.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
I managed a sneaky 4hrs on the boat today, rain and wind just eased for a little so I went for it. I motored 2 miles up the lough and started a drift with the drogue out, lovely and slow. I casted every lure known to man but every single one of the 20+ hits came to the Miuras mouse in either Ice cream or Dracula colours. Ive a new favourite lure lol lol lol. 6 landed and the best just over 16lb, I ought to do short sessions a bit more often

You’re the man still Andy.. 20 hits. Some don’t get that in a season. Funny how they want a certain thing at a certain time isn’t it . Doesn’t happen enough though

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Thanks Craig, my lads the man too today lol
Its absolutely heart warming as a dad to help your number one son to catch a 20, AGAIN lol, whats even better is catching a fish 4lb heavier on the next cast and wiping the smug grin off his beautiful face Memories made today. Adon McFarlane bought me a wonderful new lure and then used it to catch his first casted 20 soon to be beaten on a lure he also bought me and my second ever casted 20+. and a PB on that method too, Happy day today Son. Thanks again.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
My local lough sheelin doesnt allow trolling until mid june, then its trout time lol. My early season trout water was out of my 5k travel area so I missed that time. It will be nice to target another species.
Re: Anybody Catching part two
So I tried for the Pike again lol, the trout will wait. sorry for swamping the page with me me me, but its a special day for sure. My first ever three 20s in a day Landed 17, 8 were doubles including 17lb 10oz ans 19lb 1oz, and 3 yes 3 twentys . 2 on casted lures :PB day, 3rd on deadbait, PB, and the smaller 21lb 5oz was on my camera too so another PB. WOW what a half day. Started at 8am, left the water at 1.30. Yahoooooo.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Great fishing again, making up for all the lost fishing when in lockdown.
I was again out trying for a Cat but could only manage three pike - I caught one on squid on a dumbbell rig, the other two on Spam.
I never thought I would be disappointed in catching pike but I thought I had hooked my first a Cat when the dumbbell went under.
Next week, taking my grandson fishing. The week after am booked on Lakemore fisheries for twenty four hours for another go at
catching the elusive catfish.

Wow Andy thats a fantastic days fishing mate 3 twentys lol a would love just one I've put my pike gear away now until next winter
Psion I hope you get your big cat soon mate But at least you are catching some nice pike to put you on until you do
I've not been out since March and even then it was only a odd day here and there lets hope things are back to normal for the next pike season Meanwhile tight lines everyone

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Massive congratulations mate, really well done do they fight as good as they say they do? i bet you were buzzing!!!!!
Re: Anybody Catching part two
So I got Fathers day present early lol. Thanks Emma Mcfarlane. Ive stopped chasing pike due to warm water temps but just thought I better try my new combo. Abu Garcia Revo4 and the SG2 power. WOW, works a treat. 10th cast and bang!!!!! I need a measuring board for lengths because when this passed along the side of the boat my legs buckled, thoughts of 30s were going round in my head, long enough but the Wrong month is all that stopped her. Number 13 for the season, not unlucky at all

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Congratulations, that's a great fish to end your season. Yes they do fight well - it's an experience. I'm glad I caught a catfish now as I don't know when I will be back
fishing for them as the rivers open next week and I'll be targeting Barbel and Chub.

Re: Anybody Catching part two
~Sorry for hogging the thread lads, but its not over just yet. i had a day trolling small cranks for other species, and this big Girl popped up. number 14 for the season even though its longer than most, but still a great year, 21lb 7oz of loveliness this is from wild a trout water of 4500 acres, they net and kill 1200 to 1500 pike a year as predator control So its not that I target them in warm water but its nice to see theres a few left

Re: Anybody Catching part two
Top angling lowdouble, the Pike season still seems a long way away over this side of the pond.
Psion, well done on your Catfish captures. They really have to be the hardest fighting fish I've ever hooked and landed. My Catfish season is off the mark but only kittens to just over 11Lbs so far, although I helped a good friend of mine who has started fishing again after a 30 year absence, hook and land a 44Lbs 6oz Catfish. That was worth the entrance fee alone as not only was it his first ever Catfish but was the biggest in the lake.
