Is fishing net a must?

Hi there,

I wonder if fishing net a must to use when fishing for pike or using a fishing grip is just fine?

I think a net is a must have item for the the safety of the pike and the angler. Its a lot quicker with a net and there is always a chance of
getting caught with a flying hook.

Nets are a must have for pike as for grips I don't think theres a place for them in pike fishing they can do a lot of damage to a pike especially if it starts flaying about I know they are used in some other Countries but they are really looked down on in the UK

just a few pointers pal
a net 42 inches or the largest you can get
a good size matt to lay your catch on
barb less hooks if your a beginner
wire trace 20lb or more and good strong swivels / ready made pike trace barbless 20lb wire /
15lb mono or heavier ,or 30lb plus braid
rod should be in the 2.5tc range
and try to go out with somebody who has some knowledge of pike fishing / theres plenty of videos on you tube on handling pike
and 2 sets of forecepts to remove the hooks longer the better
2 sets in case you lose a set...
