Pike Fishing - Thorne
Allright Lads,
Ive lived in thorne all my life (22 yrs) and only just got into fishing in the past couple of months.
Im after good spots in and around Thorne to go spinning for pike, perch, etc.
If anyone could explain what sort of spinners/lures to use and how would be good.
I spent the past few days spinning on the Witham in Lincoln with only a few small perch for my troubles.
Any help and advice for a newbie would be good,
Cheers,
Chumley

Re: Pike Fishing - Thorne
Allreet lads,
Went to canal on Saturday and got the pike in my picture. On a Medium sized spinner as I had no luck all day with lures.
Any ideas of the weight of the fish would be appreciated as I cant afford any scales and my mum'll go mad if i raid her kitchen for some . She was about 36 inch long and fought like a leviathon.
Cheers for the help lads

Re: Pike Fishing - Thorne
Nice one chumley
I don't want to diss your photographic skills, but more 'square on' to the camera will give better results and aid in the guesstimating of size much easier.
Looks like a nice healthy fish. I know what you mean about the scales - I think our lass would have summat to say about nicking the kitchen scales too
I have to rely on guessing weight as I don't own any but have to rely on my mate remembering to fetch his along (which he usually forgets to do )

Re: Pike Fishing - Thorne
HI Chumley Warner, IF YOU LOOK ON TH MONA SCALE, A FISH OF 36" IN AVERAGE CONDITION SHOULD WEIGH AT THE VERY LEAST 14LB. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU A BIT. ALL THE BEST. THE MAD BAD ANGLER
