spinning rod
I want to buy a quality spinning rod to cast medium to heavyish lures, with maybe a few lighter ones thrown in the mix.
I dont mind spending a reasonable bit of dosh on the right one. Any ideas what make / length is ideal as i havnt done spinning since i was a lad. Reel will be loaded with power pro braid 50lb bs or maybe 15lb mono if its better for spinning ?????
Ta very muchly lads.

Mmm, doug, for me it's berkley all the way, but it may not be your choice,,
Best thing have a look at the offer's see what deal's are on, best thing, how much spinning will you be doing, if not much, then you can budget on something for knocking about,
Will you be using fixed spool, or muitiplier..
Let me know what you choose, I throw you a few

Hiya Welsh.
I will use fixed spool as i tried a multiplier once and just couldnt get on with it.
I always buy quality gear, cause it lasts for years. I probably wont do too much lure fishing cause i,m a lazy sod really and cant be bothered, but would like to try and pick up a few bonus fish here and there with those rascals you sent me mate.

Re: spinning rod
one i keep trying to sell to people is the esox spinflex in 9ft 2.5 lb
it works well for most small to medium lures around the 30-50gm range
and it does far more than just throw lures its a good wobblong rod, bait rod carp stalking or floater fishing
throw in chubbing sea fishing trolling baits and lures.....
all for 50ish quid

Re: spinning rod
Well, i got my spinning / lure rod today. looked at all the different type / makes but in the end went for a
Drennan 7 series spincast 9ft 2 1/4lbtc. lovely and thin and very light. Should do all i want it to including a bit of Carp stalking i reckon. Will let you know what i think of it next time out.
This sounds similar to what Noodle was saying about the Esox rod he recommends.
Anyone else got one of these, and what are they like to use ??

As it turns out , the rod was only £38 ! Would have paid more if i could have found something else that i liked, but couldnt.
Nice little rod really and should do nicely as i dont do a lot of spinning / lure fishing.

Re: spinning rod
Went out today and had a days piking. Tried out the new spinning / lure rod.......................Superb !! Ive never cast so far using a lure before as always used too stiff a rod ( not designed for lures ). This was the mutts nuts. So easy to cast, the action is great.
Didnt have a take on the lure unfortunately, had 3 runs on deads and they dropped it everytime, so no pike. Finiky little rascals !!
