Re: Anybody Catching
Went out for 5 hours today with my mate Gav.
Took a tub of worms and legered for (hopefully) a perch or two. Also took some smelt and tried for a pike. Tried several swims and had nothing, zip, nada, nowt, bugger all etc...
As I've said before, not really bothered if I don't catch cos it's just nice to be out on the banks, but it's starting to get frustrating now. Not had a pike at all this winter.

Had my last Pike on 27th November and ever blanked since but didn't get out for 3 weeks due to the ice.Lefty wrote:it's starting to get frustrating now. Not had a pike at all this winter.
So your not alone mate!
Think you could be right.BradfordLad wrote:All the experts say February-March is the time.
Last winter I had most of my fish then and didn't blank once in 2 months!

Well done Andy!
I know most silver fish will feed after the noise of ice breaking but I always thought Pike were sensitive to noise???

No idea tbh. it was fully covered but quite thin (1cm ish). I pushed it from the margin and fished under rod tips. By 4pm most of it had thawed. I had the fish by 2 pm so there was plenty of ice around.
