Ive spoken to the guy who caught this fish and he confirms to me it was a 46lb 1 oz monster. i believe him because ive known him for a long time and i have no reason to think he would lie. he is a stand up guy and im chuffed to bits for him. he is really gutted he didnt have a camera and has explained he actually thought the british record was closer to 55+ lbs which is one of the reasons he didnt take it in or have another boat come and photograph it. he only fishes for pike a few times a year and was fishing the water on a day ticket. congrats to him.

Great for pike angling and I hope it’s not come from small water. (wykeham - poor fish) Hope its from somewhere like Windermere, it will give the fish a chance.

I'm sure it was reported in good faith but let's not forget the 38 pounder caught from the Wye last season. The photos of this fish clearly showed it to be nowhere near 38lb and in fact it was identified as a fish that gets caught regularly at around 19lbs.

Well it looks like the fishing in Scotland is a lot better than the Rugby. Infact i would think most things in Scotland is better than the rugby. So i take it we're not believing in it.

I have to agree with that, also in this day and age someone going out specimen hunting without a camera is just a little hard to believe.stubbo wrote:most people carry a phone with them even the basic phones have cameras could he not put it in his landing net surely he knew he had something special got somebody there to take a photo lets face it its a fish of a lifetime i would of swam the lake for a picture of a 46lb pike he might know the guy i was talking to a while back he had a 57lb pike in scotland..........Dave-Newman wrote:MAD BAD ANGLER wrote:just been on another forum, and reports of said fish have been flying around. only trouble is no photo or other such proof.

Re: 46LB 1OZ PIKE FROM LAKE DISTRICT
I was in the Lake District today so called in at Estwaite and he (Dave) said that the fish was caught there and he'd checked his scales to see if they were accurate - which they were - so we're left with the question did he catch it or not. Dave said that he was genuine?

This how rumours turn into big fish. A little bit more knowledge and investigation would go a long way. This would not take a lot of finding out, especially as i mentioned this fish at the start of this topic.
think this pic was from last march. MAy be wrong.
