Put them off like something they've never encountered like a half mackerel or a fluorescent pink shad?

Mate, I use size 4 red VMC trebles, black swivels and clips, silver paperclips, 3-4oz leads, green wire, bright orange pop-ups, sea-baits and on my distance rig, fluoro yellow line. There's no getting away from the fact the fact, it's pretty easy to see and yet, I still still catch my fair share of pike.

I also connect my jerkbaits to 180lb steel wire and the lure doesn't really behave like any fish I've ever seen swim and we haven't even looked at the colours. I use black, white fluoro pink, sunburst and all manner of colours but yet the pike stil fancies a crack at them.

Not a problem. I was merely illustrating a point. Pike aren't that fussed by odd looking tackle.

like everybody has said in my oppinion pike are not tackle shy unlike some other fish /carp /barble which need a more stealthy approach most of the time but not on the commercial water in summer when your banging them out on a method job lol Very Happy
