If they can dissolve the bones of a 4lb plus pike i'm sure a balsa stick would be no problem

Maybe not the digestive system they have isn't designed to digest plant material
Re: What pop ups do you use
im not disputing it im just putting it out there for debate
Andy Macfarlane wrote:tc wrote:i can understand how they work but they just seem so unnatural to me surely they would put the pike of, because in coarse fishing its all about hideing your end tackle.
Put them off like something they've never encountered like a half mackerel or a fluorescent pink shad?
Mate, I use size 4 red VMC trebles, black swivels and clips, silver paperclips, 3-4oz leads, green wire, bright orange pop-ups, sea-baits and on my distance rig, fluoro yellow line. There's no getting away from the fact the fact, it's pretty easy to see and yet, I still still catch my fair share of pike.
I also connect my jerkbaits to 180lb steel wire and the lure doesn't really behave like any fish I've ever seen swim and we haven't even looked at the colours. I use black, white fluoro pink, sunburst and all manner of colours but yet the pike stil fancies a crack at them.

Not a problem. I was merely illustrating a point. Pike aren't that fussed by odd looking tackle.

like everybody has said in my oppinion pike are not tackle shy unlike some other fish /carp /barble which need a more stealthy approach most of the time but not on the commercial water in summer when your banging them out on a method job lolAndy Macfarlane wrote:Not a problem.
