flourocarbon leader Empty flourocarbon leader

Post  cavemandom Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:14 pm

I,m new at piking I have only been piking since Sept 09, so far I'v managed to get by on bits and bats of advice from my local tackle shop and reading on the net, I want that extra edge, I recently read using a flourocarbon leader would improve my chances, I have braid on my reel, how do I use the flouro as a leader ? do I still need to use a steel trace also?, cheers Dominic......

You must always use a steel trace wire as pike will bite through flourocarbon like a knife through butter Very Happy Very Happy

Loads of info on here Plus lots of help from most if not all members Wink
Just ask !!

Dominic, the best advice i got when I took up Pike fishing, and its only 5 years ago, was to go out with experienced Pikers, there is no substitute for getting tips and seeing how it is done. I spent a lot of time asking around tackle shops etc, dont get me wrong they did their best, but learning on the bank with someone that knows what its about, is the way to go. I am not sure where you live, but i bet one of our forum members lives near you and I am sure they would gladly help, good luck Wink

Hi

Do you mean you want to use flourocarbon leader or a flourocarbon trace?

If you mean flouro trace then do not never ever use anything but wire for traces.

If you mean leader then don't bother as you will be adding an unnecessary knot.
