Re: Fishing Vehicle
not sure of exact mpg, but it costs me 65 quid to fill her and if in 2WD on avarage roads etc i'll get 450 miles to a tank.
If she goes off road, or is in 4WD that drops to about 390 miles to the tank.
It's perfect for fishing though - shedloads of room (i've even slept in the back on a double air mattress which it snugly fits when the rear seats are down - and i'm 6'7" ...lol) and off road it is a beast. Never got stuck anywhere yet (touch wood).
Highly recommend one

Re: Fishing Vehicle
I know a few people that have had them - as long as you don't go for the 2.4/3.0 petrol engines i think they are one of the strongest, well built 4x4's you could buy.
I paid £2700 for mine + an old Toyota Rav4 worth about £700
There are a few people that specialise in importing the best examples - if you need a link give us a shout. Really, low milage ones still go for about 5k i think.

A. Chevrolet Captiva 2.0 VCDi LTX 4x4, 2007
B. Wouldn't mind one of these and probably wouldn't need to worry about the fuel price if I coul afford one???

Re: Fishing Vehicle
I had a Volvo V40 TD that was a good all round car. Far too expensive to fix when head gasket went though. I was looking at £300 for a DIY job It went to Booths Scrap Metal Merchants
No longer have a car so rely on my mate (and forum member, though he's hardly ever on) Gavin1928 for a lift fishing. He has a 57 plate Vectra.
My ideal car would be a Range Rover Sport for everyday use and a heavily modified Land Rover for off road fun and for going fishing. We can all dream can't we?

Still, each to their own and it beats walking

A. Saab 2.0 Turbo Convertible which is completely impractical for fishing but I love driving with the top down at full throttle!
B. Any 4x4 that would get me through the snow to a venue in winter.

Re: Fishing Vehicle
just bought this suzuki vitara grand 2.5ltr ,55k on clock with private reg..£1500[img][/img]
bargain of a machine ..ultimate fishing car in my eyes...THE BIG V6 ENGINE...makes easy work of any muddy track loads of room in it too mpg aint that good its petrol..but has more power than the diesel...horses for courses...about 300 on a full tank but i aint ever got stuck..in the mud so its perfect for hard to reach areas of the fishing world....example ...mount snowdon.lol
ive had a few of these.over the years just the `16v jlx s but they have been work horses
but this has most power out of the lot
so this is my choice of 4x4

yup suits me the least stealable car in the world probably
but on a serious note have a proper look at one it may well be the almost perfect fishing/family car combo
(4x4 not an option as the running costs are silly)
cleaning my engine
