I have to say, night fishing isn't all it's cracked up to be in my experience. Most of my runs come between 1.30pm and 2.30pm

witnessed 48 20lb's during night, most of them felt like a dream, pics poor, blackness all around, whitewash on pics. just think daytime piking more relaxing and safe??

I guess that means it's water dependant in that case.

Sometimes its a the only time you can fish when its dark, i would try an dgive it a go on most waters from time to time if i thought that water warranted it?

lol i cant wait for that to happen with me mate.... i put my 3 year old daughter to bed every night without fail, if her mum tries she yells until i come tuck her in so staying set up past 6pm is a no no for me at the minute.
good news is shes already after coming fishing with me and actually identifies fish species when i show her piccies...... if i do go fishing i have to get my gear out the night before and set off before she wakes in the morning otherwise shes at the door with her boots on ready to go with me before i even finish having a coffee, and i hate having to watch the tears well up when i tell her she cant go

Re: night time pike fishing
Hi Rob
We have the same problem in our house regards young 'un come bedtime.
He's nearly 2 now and it has to be me who puts him to bed. I take him up, kiss and hug him goodnight, lay him down and I'm downstairs usually within 10 minutes of going up.
Our lass however can be running up and downstairs for up to an hour before he's finally that nick-nacked he drops off.
It's the same during the day. He's all for daddy doing things with him or for him. Poor mummy is going to have fun when I finally find a job.
Funnily enough, his older brother was exactly the same. Must say something about me as a father

Well maybe that accounts for my complete lack of confidence in night fishing. I completely agree with you there. I might find a water yet that produces well at night. Most of the waters I fish are devoid of other anglers during the day so maybe the fish feel confident taking baits mid-afternoon.
I might also add that many waters that supposedly fish better at night are often hammered all during the daytime and the pike have simply wised-up to some degree and therefore simply won't touch a bait till it's 'safe' to do so.

Re: night time pike fishing
not sure on that one andy..... the best night water i ever fished used to get hammered day and night for all species, and yet most of the pike still came at night whether it was on rattling lures or deadbaits

Re: night time pike fishing
No, because most of mine have come during the day but as I and others have already said, it seems to be a venue dependant thing.

Well, it seems we're barely further forward than we were at the start. Lots of good ideas and theories but I think the only thing we can agree about is, it's venue dependant and pike behave differently from one water to another.
