Re: Anybody Catching
Cheers MAD BAD, the waters I've been fishing, 1 is a Stillwater when I sat at the side of my uncle who proceeded to land a 15lber, one river and a couple of canals, I think nearly every river and canal can produce fish of this size. To be honest sometimes size is irrelevant, it be nice to catch my target but after a few blanks, anything would do, like I say 3 pike in approximately15 sessions and 2 of them came in 1 session.
I thought the general opinion would be not to fish for them once the water starts to warm up, I think once they start spawning they are not really interested in eating anyway.
I'm from Ossett, near Wakefield, but have been known to travel a bit for my fishing.

It's been a tough couple of weeks with the snow water in the rivers but things are picking up along with the temperatures. Three fish this week, 11lbs, 12lbs and 25lbs 13oz, all on lures.

Well done Eric
I've been out twice this week first time for just 2 hours and manage one jack of 8lb then a full days blanking
Still it was good to be out there watching nature at its best

Here's a pic. of the 25, it turns out it was the same fish I had last March at 20lb 15oz so it's put on almost 5lbs in less than a year. Hmm, I had a thirty on the same day last year, I wonder how big that one is now!

Re: Anybody Catching
After a couple of blanks myself, ( one with jake ) , I decided to try a night session , I was meeting my lad at the venue after work last night. He got there for 5 and at 6.15 when I arrived , he had just landed his first ever 20. 20lb 6 oz. . Over the next hour or so we missed a run each, it then went quiet until 11 pm . We then landed 3 , a 13. An 11 and a 6 . Nowt else while this morning and we had 2 jacks to finish.
It's been a long time since I had a few at night, feels good not to be blanking, even if my lad out fished me
Cheers Craig.

Re: Anybody Catching
Just out of curiosity, are you fishing deads or lives at night? Piking at night is not something I have ever done, although I wouldn't mind giving it a go. I have done plenty of night fishing for other species but never pike

Re: Anybody Catching
Some great Pike coming out lately. That is an absolute stunner Eric, fair play. Ive been doing OK too but the last day was just unreal. When Ireland fishes good its bloody good
Re: Anybody Catching
I took my Son and his friend out for the day, windy wet and horrible. But we didnt have time to moan. The friend jack had never pike fished before so he would have been happy with a Jack too lol. He managed a 17lb 13oz, two 14s a 10 and 6 jacks. My Son had a 23lb 5oz a 17lb 9oz and 6 jacks and I had a little bit of sport with a 23lb 10oz and 4 jacks, Why is is so easy at times
